A Heritage Approach to Leathercraft
Aetolus began with a need—not a business plan.
In the early 2020s, we started crafting tent bags, knife rolls, and binocular cases using a vintage, hand-cranked Singer sewing machine. What began as personal gear—designed for the wilds of the Scottish Highlands—evolved into something more.
Today, Aetolus is a workshop based in Edinburgh, making traditionally crafted leather goods using time-honoured tools and techniques. Every item is designed and hand-stitched by Christos, using full-grain hides tanned with natural tree bark. Our leather is sourced from Italian tanneries and trusted UK suppliers—many of them family-run. The metal hardware is cast in Walsall, England, and selected for both strength and character.
We don’t use sewing machines. No plastic. No shortcuts. Just heritage craftsmanship, heirloom materials, and a commitment to making things that last.
Every item comes wrapped in sustainable packaging and carries the quiet signature of its maker.

Don't take our word for it. Take theirs.
